The first activity was designed to
- introduce infinite sequences as infinite processes that
produce an infinite stream of numbers,
- introduce mathematical operations such as doubling each
element in a sequence that treat infinite sequences as objects to be operated
upon,
- introduce an operation that starts with an infinite
sequence and produces two infinite sub-sequences, and
- encourage the children to reflect upon the seemingly
paradoxical nature of infinity.
